This was my third time at Lindy on the Rocks held in Denver, CO – and had a blast! The classes were really good, a really really great set of instructors – definitely one of the best events of the year for classes, dances and competitions!
In the Invitational Jack and Jill Shesha Marvin drew me and we had a really fun dance together! Our spotlight comes in around 3min into the Youtube video below. My favorite part was when he does a really cool hat trick near the end of the dance – crazy awesome that he can do both!!!
I also did the Pro with Andrew Hsi, and Hilary Billings saved me (my shoes were a bit sticky as they are rubber keds – and so didn’t agree with the floor, fortunately I was able to swivel due to Hilary having my same shoe size AND an extra pair of sueded shoes…yay for saving my knees
. Here is the youtube video (Thanks again to Jonathan Jow for taking and posting the LOTR videos!)
Random other highlights:
- Delilah Williams is awesome and did the solo charleston competition one footed and STILL got into finals! Go Woman!
- I live on the Chicken pesto sandwiches sold at a market down the street from the Turnverine whenever I go to an event in Denver…they are so good!
- Bring both types of shoes to an event in case one of the floors is a bit sticky! (I should have learned this a long time ago!)
- All the Denverites I have met have been super duper nice and I always love traveling there to dance – props to the really nice/awesome people in the scene
P.S. The next post will actually be something really helpful that Naomi said in class – more dance epiphanies, so keep an eye out!
